International Symposion The Early Medieval Lyre: Archaeological Findings and Performance Practice
Archäologisches Landesmuseum Konstanz/Lake of Constance


The extraordinary and exciting finding of the so called "Trossingen lyre" raised new questions concerning performance practice of the early medieval lyre.
Within an international symposion at Constance renowned archaeologists, instrument makers, scholars of german language, musicologists and performers will discuss usage and performance pratice of the early medieval lyre.
A concert by Benjamin Bagby, Grame Lawson and Stefan Johannes Morent will be included in the symposion.

Second Masterclass Academy for Medieval Music within the Landesakademie Ochsenhausen 2009


From 15.-19.09.09 the second Academy for Medieval Music will take place within the Landesakademie Baden Württemberg at Ochsenhausen.
The masterclass's topic will be again Performing Music of the Middle Ages. Basic techniques.

Benjamin Bagby, Ensemble Sequentia/Université de Sorbonne, Paris: voice, harp, lyre,
Susanne Ansorg, Ensemble Ordo Virtutum: fiddle, medieval bowed instruments,
Prof. Dr. Stefan Johannes Morent, Ensemble Ordo Virtutum/University of Tübingen: Performance practice, musicology.

At the end of the masteclass ensembles Sequentia and Ordo Virtutum will perform a concert at St. George's Church of the UNESCO-World Cultural Heritage Isle of Reichenau.

From 06.-09.09.07 the first Academy for Medieval Music took place within the Landesakademie Baden Württemberg at Ochsenhausen.
The masterclass's topic was Performing Music of the Middle Ages. Basic techniques.

Susanne Ansorg, Ensemble Ordo Virtutum: fiddle, medieval bowed instruments,
Prof. Dr. Stefan Johannes Morent, Ensemble Ordo Virtutum/University of Tübingen: Performance practice, musicology.

At the end of the masteclass ensembles Sequentia and Ordo Virtutum performed a concert on Fragments of the end of time - Music around 1000 at St. George's Church of the UNESCO-World Cultural Heritage Isle of Reichenau.

The masterclass united students of Germany, France, the Netherlands and Japan.
